  1. Hope you feel better Barry, I hope you have seen a doctor about your sinuses, it’s been like a week and it doesn’t seem much better.

  2. I noticed a big jump in Local SEO rankings on multiple projects this week. Finally growth after BERT update slowdown. I had massive improvements for prime keywords. As for the speed report and page Insights rating, I find it still inaccurate compared to other tools and real-life performance. However er it is nice to see that Google keeps developing tools for us. As for Google Ads, it's just constantly getting better and better. Great job Barry! 👍

  3. the new special effects on your video really sucks 🙄

  4. Re: The stuff about UX at 8 minutes…Not trying to be argumentative at all with Google, but, speaking for myself, here's why I find it so hard to buy into Google's hyper-defensive and irritated denials of using UX as a "ranking" signal. Let's say we believe them. Well, why would they NOT want to use UX, in general, however they quantify it (and yeah, it's easy to think of ways to quantify it)? It's in line with their company philosophy: "By allowing users to vote with their clicks, we have millions of people helping us decide which…are best for each search query. Google's philosophy has always relied on user feedback as a key driver to decision making." – Hal Varian said that, not some SEO (https://youtu.be/qwuUe5kq_O8?t=163). Yes, he was talking about ads (where I used ellipsis), but the bit about Google's philosophy was general, not limited to ads. And in the same video he acknowledges what everyone in paid knows, CTR is the biggest factor in Quality Score. So first, why would Google NOT use it in organic when they do use it in paid to determine quality and reward users with the best? Second, why does Google get so friggin' defensive about this? Like when Danny Sullivan basically said Rand Fishkin was full of "crap" for thinking CTR had any impact. I mean, I don't have some special window into Google. I don't know. But it annoys me that it annoys Google so much.

  5. Looking forward to the interviews. Get some sleep!

  6. Re: API to the speed reports in GSC. I would imagine it would be more accurate to use the API to PageSpeed Insights anyway. As I tweeted earlier it seems to me that the GSC stuff lags PS Insights, although I suppose time will tell whether they will end up sync'ing that data. However if they did have the same data, and if they did have calls to API hooks in GSC, at least it would allow some consolidation instead of having to hit 2 different APIs with two different sets of parameter specifications, etc. Also, since the GSC stuff only accesses the Chrome UX data (at least for now), if someone needed a full suite of lab data GSC wouldn't help them.
